Welcome to the Vancouver Island North District (VIND) of Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons (CPS). CPS is a federal Not For Profit corporation and charity and is divided into seventeen Districts which cover the country from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island. Each District is comprised of a number of Squadrons who strive to carry out our mission in their own local area. The ten VIND squadrons are all based in towns and cities on Vancouver Island, north of the Malahat. Our colleagues in Squadrons in Vancouver Island South District (VISD) are based in and around Victoria and the Southern Gulf Islands. Within our web site you will find information about where our squadrons are and the courses, activities and fellowship that they offer. We also include their contact information and web links so that should you wish to find out more you may do so. Our Courses vary from Basic Boating/ PCOC (both classroom and on-line) Boating Essentials, Restricted Operator Certificate (Maritime) (VHF) and Advanced courses. In addition our Squadrons offer courses in boat and engine maintenance, weather, electronic navigation courses and radar and many more. I encourage you to join us and increase your boating knowledge or to offer your knowledge and experience to us.test

CPS-ECP is excited to announce their partnership with CIL Dealers to undertake a project on education and awareness of safety equipment, the care and maintenance of that equipment and how to safely and effectively use and dispose of flares.
Have Your Flares Expired?
If your flares have a manufacture date of 2014 or earlier they have or will expire this year. You can't light them, throw them in the water or in your household garbage to dispose of them.
Disposing of expired flares has been an ongoing dilemma for boaters across the country. To help boaters dispose of expired flares in a safe and environmentally responsible manner CPS-ECP and selected CIL Dealers are hosting Safety Equipment Education and Flare Disposal Days. On these days, you will be offered the opportunity to learn about required safety equipment and you can bring your outdated flares to be properly disposed of, free of charge.
The following list of locations will host safety equipment days and accept expired flares on the dates noted below.
